“The straight scoop from your chiropractor”

Welcome to my blockbuster edition on WEIGHT LOSS and dietary lifestyle PRINCIPLES that can reverse chronic diseases.

WHY YOU SHOULD GIVE THIS CAREFUL CONSIDERATION:

  • This is all free info. I’m not selling anything here. No snake oil. This is ALL self-help. DIY. Righteous and true!

  • This subject can be full of hype, faddism, and there are those who would lead you astray for profit. Not me.

  • I have at least 40 years of experience with this subject, and for at least 30 of those years, the principles I will teach you here have been unshakable.

  • I’m not going to simply tell you what to do. I’m also going to tell you why. If it makes sense to you, then off we go!

  • And yes - there will be a word about Ozempic and the dangers of drug induced weight loss.

This is a real mouthful - pun intended. And so in order to keep this from being way too long, we will be looking at the principles associated. The rationale… is you will. Finite details will be supplied in subsequent emails. Consider this to be the backbone for understanding WHY!

FIRST THINGS FIRST - WE’VE BEEN LIED TO ABOUT FOOD… BIG TIME!

FOOD PYRAMIDS

This is the food pyramid that has existed for decades and is still promoted by certain misguided or even nefarious organizations. It is purely a fabrication of the ‘Big Food’ industry and has led to countless cases of chronic disease and obesity while at the same time creating a massive population of sick folks for ‘Big Pharma’ to profit from.

Food pyramids are simple illustrations of which food groups we should allegedly be eating - from the most at the bottom, to least at the top.

Where did the food pyramid of death come from?

IN A NUTSHELL - In the 1970’s medical authorities were forced by public demand to take a position on dietary cholesterol because it was found to be a major component of what clogs our arteries. And so was born the pyramid of OBESITY AND DISEASE you see above. Ironically - the base of that pyramid (what it tells you to eat the most of) contains the true culprit when it comes to heart disease, diabetes, obesity and a growing number of chronic inflammatory diseases (CIDs). We were told to avoid animal fats AND animal proteins, and INSTEAD to eat lots of grain (wheat, corn, rice etc.) while getting our fats from seed (vegetable) oils like margarine, corn/canola/soybean oil, etc.

High Grain, Starch, and Sugary Diets are the True Enemy

We are all, to a degree, addicted.

Animal fat and cholesterol rich foods are not the cause of obesity or heart disease. Cholesterol is deposited in our arteries, and fat is deposited in our bellies when our insulin levels are elevated, and when our bodies are inflamed. Cholesterol CAUSES NONE OF THAT. The cause is a diet high in starchy substances made from foods like grain (wheat, corn, rice, etc.) white potatoes, and from refined sugars. And tragically, we are all to some degree, addicted to these foods.

Why are we all so addicted to the wrong foods - the ones that make us gain weight and suffer a multitude of illnesses? The answer comes from the instincts we were born with, and the fact that these instincts were designed to help us survive when we lived in total harmony with nature. We still have the genes of our earliest pre-farming/pre-agricultural ancestors - the ones who hunted and gathered in unaltered nature. They only ate what the environment provided naturally, and they had to work to get it. They had to put out energy to get their food. And their brains, and our brains reward us with feel-good chemicals when we acquire foods that are high enough in calories to be worth the effort. Sweet things and fatty things are high in calories. Our pre-agricultural ancestors were compelled by their sense of taste and brain reward mechanisms to seek these things out.

These instinctual mechanisms backfire on us in the modern world where with little physical effort at all we can acquire highly starchy and sugary foods that were never part of the human pre-agricultural diet. And these high carb foods cause an exaggerated feel-good chemical reward system in the brain that is highly addictive. This is why we are literally medicating our emotional and mood issues with food. This is why we have such strong cravings for the food that make us sick and obese. This by the way is the same kind of brain-reward mechanism that causes addiction to alcohol and drugs.

For the longest period of human history we were hunter-gatherers. This was before farming/agriculture was invented. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors (paleolithic people) ate no grain, white potatoes, or refined sugars. Their ‘carb’ intake was significantly lower than the one shown in the food pyramid above. They did not suffer obesity, heart disease, diabetes or any of the common chronic diseases we suffer. We still have their genes. Our bodies are not suited to process high carb diets, and the result is an epidemic of obesity and chronic illness.

MEANWHILE: Cholesterol and animal fats are good for us!!! Every cell in your body needs cholesterol. Fats like these only become a problem when we have other imbalances going on in the body - ones that elevate insulin and elevate inflammation. Eliminating the foods at the bottom of the pyramid shown above and rearranging the other foods as we will see shortly, will put our bodies into a state where we burn fat for energy, lose weight spontaneously, and also derive a multitude of other health benefits, including the potential for reversing things like arthritis, diabetes and heart disease. We will get to why soon!

You are NOT a lab rat!

A brief word about prescription drugs for weight loss. Do you remember fen-fen the wonder drug of the 90s for weight loss? It was pulled from the market for causing heart damage and addiction. And how about the amphetamines (speed) drugs prescribed before that? Also pulled. Now we have the Ozempic craze. How much profit will the drug company that sells this make before it too gets pulled?

Ozempic side effects (common):

  • nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache

Ozempic side effects (severe/rare)

  • gall bladder disease, pancreatitis, kidney damage, thyroid cancer

Drugs are tested on rats at first, but in reality, the testing goes on in humans after drugs are released by the FDA, as all of the problems can’t be determined until the drug is widely used. How long before this one get pulled too?

CONSIDER:

  • You are NOT a lab rat.

  • If you lose weight with drugs you will likely gain it back once you stop taking them, because you have not addressed the behaviors that cause us to gain weight to begin with.

Drugs offer an easy way out that is not lasting, and not good for your health.

NO FAD DIETS BEING PROMOTED HERE!

QUESTION: What do the following popular weight loss methods that have come along in the past 5 decades all have in common?

  • Adkins

  • South Beach

  • Paleo

  • Carnivore

  • Keto

ANSWER: They all restrict starchy and sugary foods (carbs)

Cutting carbs is not a fad idea. It is the backbone of all the best methods that have come down the pike in the past 50 years!!! The common thread in all weight loss programs.

QUESTION: Which of the diets listed above was the way human beings ate for the first two to three hundred thousand years of our existence - a period of time when there was no such thing as obesity and degenerative disease?

ANSWER: Paleo

Paleo (Paleolithic) Diet

Disease pyramid V.S. Paleo pyramid

Above is a comparison of the ‘bad’ food pyramid with the ‘Paleo’ pyramid. Starting at the bottom we see water instead of all the bread, pasta, corn, wheat, rice, oats, and other grain-based high carb, pro-inflammatory foods we were all fooled into eating. That stuff is completely out.

The Matrix of Life

Water is there to remind us that WATER is ALL we need to drink, and all we should drink. Fruit juice? - too high in sugar. Soda? - liquid death. Diet soda? - even worse.

Next rung up - we have animal proteins and their associated fats - red meat, poultry, wild game, fish, shellfish, eggs, etc. This is where most of our food intake needs to come from.

Next - veggies. preferably above ground varieties. Below ground veggies (potatoes) are high in starchy carbs. White potatoes are a complete no-no. Sweet potatoes in moderation - ok.

Next - fruit. We don’t need a lot of this. And if you want to drop pounds, cut the fruit out altogether until you are at the weight you desire. Fruit sugar (fructose) in too high a quantity can cause you all the same problems as white sugar.

The rest of the pyramid speaks for itself.

A healthy lifestyle method

FIRST THING - INTERMITTENT FASTING

Put off your first meal of the day as late as you can tolerate. Late morning - even early afternoon. Try to organize your exercise routine to occur BEFORE your first meal. Eat your last meal no later than 7 pm. NO FOOD THEREAFTER. This will give you a period of fasting every 24 hrs! This will cause your body to burn fat. You can eat as much food as you like during this limited ‘time window.’ Make this your habit for the rest of your life.

SECOND THING

During your narrowed eating window - eat a Paleo diet.

Combining these two things will resonate with your genetics in a way that will turn you into a fat burning machine. And you will also:

  • sleep better

  • breathe better

  • have greater mental clarity

  • more energy

  • have less pain and inflammation

  • begin reversing chronic disease processes

  • look and feel younger.

Wow.

It’s that simple.

This newsletter has laid out the rationale and some of the groundwork. You can google Paleo Diet and Intermittent Fasting and get TONS of details!!! I will provide detailed sound bytes on this process in upcoming editions.
